Native Americans have participated and served in every major war in the united states. Many Native Americans served with honor and distinction, in both world war I & world war II more than 50,000 Native Americans served. This painting is in honor of the Native American warriors who served and protected us in the military. Not only did my grandfathers serve in the military so did my father and uncles.
- Most dancers wear a shirt, with or without ribbons. Over the shirt is worm a breastplate that usually extends below the belt. Male traditional dancers wear armbands made of metal or beads that they wear on one or both arms. Around the waist, many dancers wear a belt, which can be beaded or decorated with metal tacks or ponchos. The feather bustle is usually the u-shaped type with a single row of wing or tail feathers and tow spikes that point upward. In their hand the dancers will carry a range of objects, commonly being a wing fan, pipe bag, dance stick, etc. The dance style is similar to a prairie chicken or re-enacting the movement of a warrior searching for the enemy.
