Family

$175.00

Image of an Indian family with a poem written across the top in a layered silkscreen on paper.

This is a painting in honor of my Anishinaabe family circa 1950s  in a contemporary style and poem. This is about the changing times on the reservation and how this Anishinaabe family dreamed of family, culture, and traditions. We all want to know where we come from, what our shared and personal histories are. We all want to be part of a community.

When I think of family I think of bravery, belonging and togetherness. Our lives are layered with joy, grief, sadness, and love. My prayer is to remain open to the possibilities life and family have to offer.
